Conference Objectives:
General:
To raise the awareness of Filipino youth and students on the values and significance of our rich ecological and cultural heritage
Specific:
To demonstrate the potentials of heritage for enriching cultural identity, social development, and economic livelihood for poverty reduction, as an important component for sustainable development;
To provide alternative integrative, interactive, and interdisciplinary approaches to the teaching of heritage to children, youth, students;
To equip teachers and cultural educators with additional knowledge and skills in the preparation of interactive, integrative and interdisciplinary modules for the different subject areas (social studies and ecological/cultural heritage education, especially for Araling Panlipunan, and Arts and Music subjects, etc.)
Content:
I. On-site learning through exposure to cultural
heritage and diversity through adventure races/challenge
games to:
Ancestral Homes
Spanish period Churches
Spanish period belfries
and watch towers
Indigenous masters of crafts
Boholano music and dances
Boholano cuisine
Sites of Boholano
history and Folklore
II. On-site learning through exposure to natural
heritage and bio-diversity through adventure
races/challenge games in:
Caves Rivers Forests
Seashores
To identify:
Flora Fauna Marine life
III. Workshops in creativity and expression
to unleash imagination and ideas from the experiences
in the different artistic areas:
Creative Writing Creative Music
Creative Movement and Dance Visual Arts and Sculpture
Creative Drama IV. Workshops interactions in Leadership
Training, Team Building, and Heritage Tour Guiding
IV. Exposures to High-quality Live Performances
of music, dance and theatre produced in front of heritage
sites giving them a variety of idioms like:
Classical music
Modern and contemporary music and dance Poetry readings
" Performance arts and multi-media interactions
V. Culminating Performances:
Participants' own final showcases
Special Final heritage concert for all
